This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use Choicewright (the app and choicewright.com), how we use it, who we share it with, and your choices.
1. Who we are
Choicewright is run by Charalampos Andriopoulos, a sole proprietorship (ατομική επιχείρηση) in Greece, Kato Gerakario, 29100 Zakynthos, Greece, tax number (ΑΦΜ) 029946429. We are the controller of your personal data. You can reach us at support@choicewright.com.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your email address, your display name and your settings. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they give us your email address and may give us your name.
- Your agreement: the version of these documents you accepted, when, and the words you ticked and accepted.
- Game content: your heroes, the actions you type, the stories the AI writes for you, and portraits and read-aloud clips made for your stories.
- Playing with others: the tables you join, your chat messages, your friends and friend code, your groups, the people you block and the reports you make.
- Purchases: what you bought and when, and the store's transaction records. Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card details.
- Support: what you write to us, including bug reports and ideas you send from the app, any screenshots you attach, and, unless you turn it off, your app and phone versions, the story you sent it from and the app's last error.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage: your IP address, app and phone version, which features you used and when, and error reports.
- Notifications: a push token for your phone, if you turn notifications on.
- Security: signals from the captcha on the sign-in screen, and a one-way hash of your email address (see section 6).
We do not collect your location or contacts, and we see a photo only if you attach it to a bug report yourself. The camera is used only to scan a join or friend code on your phone, and the microphone only while you use voice chat. Voice chat is not recorded. Where your app store can tell the app your age range, it is checked on your phone and never sent to us. Our website uses no cookies.
3. How we use it
- To provide the game (performing our contract with you): your account, your stories, shared tables, chat, friends, voice chat, purchases and notifications.
- To keep Choicewright safe (our legitimate interests): an automatic safety check reads what players type, chat, names, and what the AI writes, and blocks content that breaks our Community Guidelines; we handle reports and prevent abuse, bots and fraud.
- To keep it working (our legitimate interests): fixing errors, fair use limits, and making sure each person gets one free Prologue.
- To meet legal duties (legal obligation): tax records, and answering lawful requests.
- Ads, only if we switch them on (your consent): ads are off today. If we turn them on, Google AdMob would show an ad you choose to watch, and in the EU and UK you would be asked first.
A safety check can refuse a message automatically, and you are told at once. Suspensions and bans are always decided by a person.
You do not have to give us your data, but without an email address we cannot create an account, and without sending your words to our AI provider the game cannot write a story.
How the AI uses your data
Choicewright's stories, pictures and voices are made by AI running at DeepInfra, in the United States. To make them, we send DeepInfra what you type, your hero, and the story so far (and, at a shared table, the other players' actions). Chat lines, names, and bug reports with their screenshots are sent only for the safety check. We never send your email address, payment details, voice or location. DeepInfra does not keep what we send or train AI on it, and we do not use your stories or chats to train AI.
We send this only after you give permission on the agreement screen. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings (Account, then AI permission); the game cannot write stories without it.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers who run Choicewright for us, under contracts that let them use it only for that and require them to protect it at least as well as this policy does:

Apple and Google receive data under their own privacy policies when you download the app, sign in with them, buy something or receive notifications, and Google AdMob would if ads are switched on.
The people you play with see your display name, your hero, and what you write at your table or in your chats. They never see your email address.
We may also share data if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or if another business takes over running Choicewright, in which case we will tell you first. If we add a provider, we will update this policy and tell you in the app before it happens.
5. International transfers
Some providers are in the United States. When your data goes there, it is protected by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for a copy.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open, and delete it when you delete your account, except:
- pages you wrote at someone else's table stay in their story, without your name;
- a reported message or picture is kept as evidence until the report is decided, and the report up to 2 years after that;
- purchase records are kept as long as tax law requires (in Greece, generally 5 years);
- a one-way hash of your email address is kept so the free Prologue cannot be claimed twice;
- support emails, and bug reports and ideas with their screenshots, are kept up to 2 years, and error reports up to 90 days;
- backups are overwritten within 30 days.
Chat history is kept until the chat or story is deleted or you delete your account. Deleting a story deletes its pictures and clips; a deleted hero's portrait goes with the last story that shows them.
7. Your rights and choices
- Delete your account in the app (Settings, then your email, then Delete account) or at choicewright.com/delete-account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in the App Store or Google Play first.
- Withdraw your AI permission in Settings (Account, then AI permission), and turn notifications off in Settings or on your phone.
- Under the GDPR you can access, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, object to our use of it based on legitimate interests, withdraw consent, and ask for a person to review any automatic decision. Email support@choicewright.com; we answer within one month, free.
- You can complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr) or the authority where you live.
8. Children
Choicewright is only for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and we close any account we learn belongs to someone under 18.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to what each person needs, and sign-in uses one-time codes. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts you at risk, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
